THE ARROW AT REST OF EVERY INSTANT OF ITS FLIGHT

The Arrow at Rest at Every Instant of its Flight, a film by Theodore Schaefer starring Gus Birney, Constance Shulman (Orange is the New Black), Jack Haven (I Saw the TV Glow), John Early (Maddie’s Secret, Search Party), and Roberta Colindrez (Birdman, Girls), had its world premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Cinélab worked closely with the filmmakers not just to process the 16mm film, but also during early experiments as they found the perfect stock to capture it.

“We were testing black and white stocks for a different project when Rob at Cinélab introduced us to the soundtrack stock, and we fell in love with its totally singular qualities.

When we were writing The Arrow at Rest at Every Instance of its Flight we knew we had to shoot on this film, and its look is so central to the DNA of the feature. Shooting on a stock that's never been used to make a feature presented its challenges, not least of all the incredibly low ASA.

Cinélab were real partners as we experimented to find the right development process. The look of the feature is striking and unique, and we wouldn't have been able to accomplish it without Cinélab.”
